Sheep and lambs. Extremely underrated.

Bleating love lambs.jpg

I would like to share my disgust with the rest of the world regarding the subject of sheep and lambs.
I feel that these creatures deserve more than to be made fun of and ridiculed in jokes about Welsh people.
There’s much more to the wooly mammals than meets the eye.
When I was about 17, I was walking through a graveyard one Saturday morning (as you do) and as I made my way towards a clearing in the trees, a group of frolicking lambs came into view. I couldn’t believe it. Lambs in a graveyard? Was I seeing things? Nope. They were definitely real lambs - white, fluffy and very cute, not the ghostly kind at all…
My first thought was to approach them slowly incase I scared them but, much to my amazement, 2 of the lambs acknowledged me and skipped their way to where I was standing, followed by an older looking sheep (probably the mother). Both shocked and excited about meeting my new friends, I reached out to greet the pair and pretty soon, I was cradling them like you would a baby. They were adorable. Why more people don’t keep them as pets, I have no idea!
Their names were Sammy and Petal and I went to visit them every Saturday morning (when I wasn’t hungover).
I also swore to them that I’d never eat lamb again and I’ve kept my promise. That was 1998 and 10 years on, I’m still saying no to the meat. That’s not to say I’m a veggie though - hell no! I can’t think of anything better than a bacon sarnie!

Baaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Track of the day:

nag-nag-nag-nag.jpg

‘Nag Nag Nag Nag’ by Art Brut

I love the lyrics!

“My record collection reduced to a mixed tape, headphones on I made my escape.
I’m in a film of personal soundtrack.
I’m leaving home and I’m never gonna come back.”

I think this track was released a few months ago but now, more than ever, the lyrics in the chorus are really speaking to me! They’re not particularly clever but the idea of gathering my favourite songs together before escaping to some far off land where the sun never stops shining is very tempting right now!
