My Latest Obsession
Over the last few weeks, I have noticed more and more people with West Highland Terriers. You know the ones – they’re cute, white, fluffy and now I come to think of it, they look very much like lambs. Perhaps this is why I’m drawn to them…
Anyway, I’ve been hearing and reading a lot of good press about this particular breed and now I think it’s fair to say that I’m ever so slightly obsessed.
I saw a girl walking one down the street yesterday evening. I was jealous. I saw a guy walking two of them down by the river last weekend. I was jealous. I saw one on TV the other night. I was jealous. I NEED to get a Westie! They’re gooooooorgeous!
‘Ode to the Westie’ by Rebelette
Fetch! Little Westie,
Go bring me thy stick
Frolic and yap
But please make it quick
As I long to hug you
And snuggle at home
With you on the sofa
When I’m all alone
As white as the snow
As cute as a button
Dressed as lamb
And not as mutton
My Westie and I
Are THE best companions
I even love you more
Than good ol’ Dogtanian

I’ve got a 9 month old female and she is by far the smartest dog I’ve ever owned.
She also has quite the personality.

My westie had to be put down last week.she got really sick and her
kidneys failed. Her name was Snow. She was the sweetest dog and
my heart is broken. we said our goodbyes and she gave us our last
kiss and nibbled on our earlobe one last time

I have a 1 year old male named Samson. He goes by Sam. He is so very smart and lovable. I cannot imagine life without him. He sleeps in my bed right beside me every night. He arranges the pillows into a bed and then settles down for the night and curls right up. Whoever said a Westie is not a “lap dog” has not met my Sam. He is not happy unless he’s on you and you have to pet him or he will nudge and talk to you until you pet or hug him. He has quite the personally and is certainly spoiled. I cannot ever imagine having another breed — Westies have it all….personally, charm, manners and playfulness. My kids and I love Sam dearly.

We rescued “Jack” last Thanksgiving and it has been just the best thing we ever did. Terrific dog, smart, sweet and funny.
He is now 2 1/2 yrs old. My nephew found him in a park and no one claimed him. They kept him for three mos. but their female Chihuahuas hated him and were really mean to him. By Thanksgiving, he discovered he was a Terrier. While the Chihuahuas were sunning on the patio, he came by, lifted his leg and “pee’d” on them. That’s when my nephew knew they couldn’t keep him any longer. We have been fortunate to have had two fabulous Goldens and now, our Jack.
