No butts!
It has just occured to me that I haven’t smoked a single cigarette since December 22nd 2007. It is now March 18th 2008 and I’m not even craving one. Not in the slightest.
When I lived in Spain, I was constantly relaxed. It felt like life was just one big holiday (which was fantastic) and to me, there was nothing more satisfying than sitting outside a chiringuito (beach bar) with a Tinto de Verrano in one hand, a cigarette in the other and the sun beating down on my already impressive tan.
However, (and this could be due to the UK’s ban on smoking anywhere public with 4 walls) I can now quite happily go to the pub for a pint and the thought of lighting up doesn’t even enter my head. Then again, I didn’t have a boyfriend in Spain (well, not for longer than 5 minutes), one which hates the stench of stale smoke on clothes and breath and has been one of my main reasons for successfully quitting.
I’m hoping to keep this up as it will do wonders for my skin, my teeth, my (not yellow) fingers and of course, those things which allow me to breathe. Ah yes, lungs. Recommended track: ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ by Oasis.
